Vicki Wees Interviews: Patsy Wright And The Dance Hall

In the 1940’s Patsy did a lot of dancing in the Felton Grove Dance Hall. She did square dancing and folk dancing and country dancing from all over the world. She danced with her future husband, Bob Wright there. She was in a dance group called “Merry Go Rounders” and also “Mountain Dancers”. In 1948, Patsy and her mom had the Pattie-Dee Style Shop on Highway 9 in Felton. It was the first ready-to-wear ladies shop in the valley. Here’s a drawing Patsy made for me of Felton Town, circa 1948. It shows where the Pattie-Dee Style Shop was. Interesting to note that Roy’s market used to be across the street, and the old telephone office didn’t have dial yet.
